It is easy to say that the Pizza It’s a wildcard snack, which most people like and which goes with just about everything, it’s really hard to contain hunger and wait for it to be ready. But if you found out how to make a super quick pizza?

American digital influencer Corey B posted a video in which he prepares to microwave pizza in the cup in minutes and this video went viral all over the world. There have been more than 1 million views, 28 thousand likes, more than 2 thousand comments on this recipe which seems to be very interesting.

Given that we love pizzathis experiment seems to have been made especially for us to test: Works?

Quiz: How to make super fast pizza in the microwave

First of all let’s go to the list of ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of wheat flour

  • 1/4 tablespoon of chemical yeast (or baking soda) *

  • 1 pinch of salt (to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon of oil

  • 3 tablespoons of milk

  • 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce

  • grated mozzarella (to taste)

  • + favorite filling

*NOTE: It is worth mentioning that in the video we confused baking soda with baking soda. We will explain it in detail later in this article, for now keep in mind that the ingredient mentioned in the original video is the chemical yeast.

As indicated in the video, the first step was add the dry ingredients. Therefore, add the wheat flour, baking soda and salt to the cup.

Next, we put the oil and milk in the cup and mix again until it becomes a homogeneous mass.

Therefore, the tomato sauce is mirrored on the surfacejust above the dough. we grate the cheese at that time and we were pouring on it.

The video guides you this is the time to put the filling, which in this case would be mini pepperoni, but the creativity is yours to fill the way you like best. That said, our publisher doesn’t eat meat, which means our trial version was stuffed only with cheese and fresh oregano.

we take a microwave at maximum power for 1 minute and a half. Soon the kitchen emanated a delicious pizza scent through the house.

DETAIL: Cooking time may vary depending on the microwave power. If in doubt, stick a toothpick or silverware in the center of the cup and when you remove, observe. If the dough is dry it is ready, otherwise it must be cooked longer.

The result was visually stunning!

Result: does the pizza in a cup work?

Quick answer: yes, it works loooong!

At first we were a bit skeptical, but it was only a bite that any uncertainty about the success of the recipe went up in smoke! It is worth remembering that the texture is reminiscent of a sandwich, or that type of (softer) pan pizza.

The ingredients are easy to handle and the preparation method is even more relaxed, as you practically just put it in the microwave. The only caveat on our test is that we would add a little more salt and a lot more cheese.

Plus, the smell, texture and above all the flavor were on the verge of killing that craving for pizza that hits out of nowhere.

Chemical yeast or baking soda?

Some followers of SOS Almanac highlighted this difference in ingredients used between our test and the original video. They commented on our social networks:

“It’s not with baking soda, it’s with yeast. But it worked.”comments Rubinéia Conceição on our YouTube channel.

“I tested it again by replacing the baking soda with chemical yeast (same size) and it was MUCH better!”said Heloisa Conti on our TikTok.

Initially, we need to understand the difference between the two to understand how they work in this recipe:

  • or sodium bicarbonate It is a chemical component with numerous uses that reacts with some acidic ingredients, such as vinegar, honey, lemon juice, yogurt, among others. When this reaction is caused by mixing and exposure to heat, a carbon dioxide gas is released which creates air bubbles which increase the size of the recipe.
  • In case of chemical yeast the reaction is substantially the same, the difference is that, in its composition, the yeast already carries both the bicarbonate and the acid necessary to activate it.

In other words, since our dough does not contain acidic ingredients (apart from milk which is slightly acidic), the use of chemical yeast is the most suitable option to make it rise better. Despite our confusion in translating the ingredient, we can guarantee that the recipe is just as good.

What have we learned from this test?

  • It is possible to make a mini pizza in a few minutes, even in the jug;

  • In this recipe you can replace baking soda with baking powder.
