5 reasons to watch Frozen – Evie’s new psychological thriller

On December 1, 2022, the psychological detective thriller Frozen, the first series from director Adilkhan Yerzhanov, is launched on Ivy and Okko. The main roles were played by Artem Bystrov and Lena Tronina. The project was produced by Ivy Online Cinema and Sreda Production Company. The 7 episodes are already available for viewing on the platform.

1. Captivating story

According to the plot, the police find the frozen corpse of a naked woman on the outskirts of the northern city – this is the wife of lead investigator Evgeny (Artem Bystrov). Falling into rage and not caring about the legality of the methods, the hero begins a real hunt for the killer. The partner in love with him tries to suppress the hero’s thirst for revenge, but he does not accept help. As a result, the murders in the city continue, Evgeny is removed from his position, his adopted teenage son turns away from him after his mother’s death, and the only person who sympathizes with the hero is the cemetery worker Mitya (Vladimir Kanukhin ) , suffering from hallucinations. A terrible incident in the past also plunges Mitya into the abyss of self-destruction. Together, the heroes explore the darker sides of their selves to finally understand what choosing revenge, not life, leads to…

2. Accuracy of details

Viewers of “Frozen” await an investigation with unusual twists. The writing of the killer is terrifying, and the plot keeps each episode in suspense, until the very end. While working on the project, many silicone parts of the human body were created for naturalistic mutilation. Humanoid dolls have completely repeated frozen figures.

3. The study of human nature

To improve the image of the main character, investigator Evgeny Rudnev, played by Artem Bystrov, special makeup was created – specially designed false teeth based on the casts of the actor’s jaw and contact lenses that make to resemble the pupils of the actor in the eyes of a wolf, and his character – “animal”. The show’s psychologism is twisted to the max, which is why the characters – their actions, their emotions, their struggle with internal demons – are so interesting to watch.

4. Impeccable visuals

The entire exterior was filmed on location, more than 80 objects and sub-objects from the Leningrad region, the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk region were mastered for filming. It is noteworthy that the actors worked without an understudy in -30 frosts, taking on the blows of the winter elements and the tasks set by the director. The visuals of the series are full of aesthetics and convey chill even through the screen. Largely thanks to these details, among the snowy landscapes and the glow of the Northern Lights, it was possible to reveal the tragedy of the protagonist in such a poignant way and create tension while watching the series.

5. Talented Cast

Frozen was directed by European Film Academy member Adilkhan Yerzhanov, the first Kazakh director to win the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the so-called Asian Oscar. In addition, the film “Goliath” by Adilkhan Yerzhanov this year received a special award at the Venice Film Festival.

The project was produced by Alexander Tsekalo, Ivan Samokhvalov, Oleg Tumanov, Vadim Sokolovsky, Ilya Burets, Vasily Balashov. Alexander Matveev and Max Ivanov worked on the script, who also acted as the project’s creative producer.

The series has assembled a truly stellar cast: Artem Bystrov, Lena Tronina, Vladimir Kanukhin, Daniil Vorobyov, Maxim Karushev, Kirill Polukhin, Lukerya Ilyashenko, Victoria Agalakova and many more.
