Don’t hit your face in the dirt! Golden rules of conduct during a company party

Some companies love it, others are afraid of it. And for those, and for others, we publish a set of immutable rules of conduct.

The tips below will help you spend your corporate New Year’s party without damaging your reputation. Needless to say, getting drunk is a bad idea?

  1. Don’t ignore the business. Of course, it’s not mandatory, but it’s a great way to bond with colleagues and not become an outcast.
  2. Do not be late. Bad tone, showing you didn’t really want to be here. And don’t run away when you come!
  3. Feel the measure in the clothes. Yes, it’s a party, but you’ll be with colleagues, which means it’s best to leave outfits that are too tight and revealing. Men, on the contrary, are strongly advised not to dress up, and not to come with the T-shirt and jeans from the day before. If the invitation has a dress code, don’t ignore it.
  4. If you want to come to the corporate +1, don’t forget to inform the organizer. Otherwise, the surprise can be unpleasant.
  5. Don’t get stuck on your smartphone. Prioritize live communication and networking. Rest, after all! It’s also rude to communicate with just one colleague that you, say, know well.
  6. It will also be helpful to talk to your boss. The relaxed atmosphere is just what you need to get to know each other better. But complaining about working conditions or wages is not worth it. At least not here and not now.
  7. Don’t jump on snacks like you’re seeing them for the first time. A crowded plate looks sloppy – don’t be too lazy, it’s better to come several times. Keep your mouth full and keep your hands clean in case you need to shake hands when you meet.
  8. Leave work at work. The company is the worst time to solve business problems. Relax and do not disturb your colleagues who have come to relax.
  9. Don’t go overboard and bring up too personal topics in conversations. Much of tomorrow can be the subject of gossip in the smoking room.
  10. Say “yes” to dancing and participating in competitions! A company party is a fun event, so don’t sit on the sidelines, but keep your face on the stage (or on the dance floor) so the next day you don’t become the heroine of coworkers’ meme videos .
  11. If you have to work the next day, stay up late and moderate your alcohol consumption.
