Here’s how to keep your hair healthy this summer

Hairstylist teaches important hair care during the hottest days

Summer has finally arrived and with it the opportunity to enjoy days at the beach or in the pool. However, hair care at this time of year should be stepped up. This is because frequent contact with sun, salt, wind and chlorine can harm the health of the threads.

Here’s how to keep your hair healthy this summer

Therefore, the first piece of advice from hairstylist Max Gonçalves, of Fil Hair & Experience, is to focus on scarves, hats and caps, because they protect the strands and, above all, the scalp from exposure to ultraviolet rays.

Attention before and after the dive

For pool and sea lovers, the advice is to wet your hair with fresh water before entering, as this will prevent the salt and/or chlorine from penetrating deeper hair, and the same goes for post-dive. “If you don’t have a shower or shower nearby, it’s worth grabbing a bottle of mineral water,” says Max.

Washing your hair daily is also an excellent bet for those who are enjoying the summer at the beach and by the pool, since the strands are exposed to the sun, salt and chlorine, waste which, once accumulated, can aggravate dryness and the fragility of the strands.

Prevent hair breakage

The hairstylist also reminds you that it is important not to knot the wires wet, because in that state they are a little more fragile, just like the scalp. “Doing a ponytail, for example, with wet hair, can break the hair more easily and even pull out some of the hair that would have a longer life. This habit can also cause the proliferation of fungi, which can contribute to this hair loss factor” , explains Massimo.

Hair hydration and exfoliation

Another expert tip is hydration. “She is the antidote to recovery [o cabelo] damage, maintain the health of the strands and prevent that greenish effect on blondes,” he explains. The specialist also suggests that the blondes wait 15 days before going into the pool or the sea if you recently dyed your hair.

Finally, Max suggests a gentle exfoliation to remove salt and chlorine residue from the hair. “It can be done with the mask of your choice, as long as it is nourishing or restorative. Put it in a container and add a spoonful of brown sugar. If you need, you can duplicate the recipe depending on the length of your hair, mix and apply on the strands, massaging strand by strand, leave for 20 minutes with a cap plastic surgery”, teaches the specialist.

There are also ready-made lines from several brands made for summer, such as Solar Sublime, by L’oréal Professionnel, which Max advises clients to adopt as part of this season’s hair care.
