The mother interrogates the hospital and discovers that the presumed dead fetus was alive

Hannah Cole insisted doctors redo the scan that showed her baby had no heartbeat

A mother’s ‘sixth sense’ has recently changed the course of a UK pregnancy. It all happened when Hannah Cole, 27, was notified at the hospital her baby’s heartbeat was no longer detected. The young woman decided to question the doctors’ verdict and asked for a re-examination, which showed that, yes, the baby was alive.

The case took place at Bradford Royal Infirmary. Hanna was hospitalized during her 20th week of pregnancy due to her water breaking. Faced with the initial finding that her fetus was dead, the orientation was that the mother should undergo induced labor. Out of a kind of instinct, however, he insisted that a new exam be done. The request was granted and, to the surprise of the professionals, the baby had a heartbeat.

At the end of October, when she was 24 weeks pregnant, the woman gave birth to Oakley, who was born weighing 780 grams. In an interview with Daily mail, called his son his “Christmas miracle.” Due to an intestinal problem, the young woman said that the baby had to be operated on when she was 8 days old. He currently uses a colostomy bag and will undergo other surgeries, but fortunately today he breathes on his own, without any assistance. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring him home in a few months,” she said.

At the time of delivery, the institution’s director of obstetrics apologized for the “anguish and anxiety” it caused Hanna. Now, a hospital spokesman said an investigation into the case has been completed and its findings will be shared with the child’s mother.
