Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (tea) sugar
  • 450 g of dates
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 240 ml or 1 cup (tea) of milk
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 1/2 simple baked pasta recipe

  • 2 cups wheat flour (sifted)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup (tea) vegetable shortening
  • 5 tablespoons of ice water
  • Wheat flour for dusting the surface

Method of preparation:

  1. For the dough, in a bowl, sift the flour and salt together, add the vegetable shortening and mix well.
  2. Add the water a little at a time until the mixture is compact.
  3. With the help of a rolling pin, roll out the dough on a floured surface.
  4. Line a fluted tart mold with a diameter of 22 cm.
  5. Take to a medium oven, preheated, for 15 minutes and let it cool.
  6. Cut the dates into four parts, removing the stone.
  7. Place the dates in a saucepan, cover with water, cover the pan and cook until tender.
  8. Still on the heat, combine the milk, sugar, salt and flour and mix well.
  9. Then add the beaten egg and cook until thickened.
  10. Pour the filling over the pasta and leave to cool.
  11. Decorate with the dates, unmold and serve.
