Find out what actually happens to the body when you sweat
The universe of physical education is large, that is, there are constantly different questions about activity, nutrition and weight. The doubt still increases especially for those who are beginners in the goal of weight reduction. In that sense, the personal trainer Fernando Dragao will explain the difference between sweating and fat loss.
Sweat vs fat loss
“Sweat is the loss of a liquid (fluid composed of sodium chloride and urea). It is our body’s response to reduce body temperature by evaporating the liquid on the skin. This is because when our body reaches temperatures above 37° C, the probability of harm to our health is very high, so sweat helps the body maintain the ideal temperature,” says Fernando.
The simple fact already makes many people imagine that there is fat loss and more importantly weight loss. Another trivia is that most think that if you don’t sweat, the exercise time wasn’t worth it. You heard that, didn’t you?
Explanations
It should be noted that water is not the only substance that someone loses in sweating, that is, essential electrolytes such as sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium are also released during sweating. It is recommended that you eat light foods and drinks so that you are hydrated and replenish your electrolytes after your workout.
“The individual who does not drink a lot of water and does not adequately replenish this loss of electrolytes, then the so-called Hyponatremia can arise, which is a decrease in the concentration of sodium in the blood. One of the first signs of this is generalized cramps, therefore hydration it must not only be done with water, but with isotonic drinks,” explains Dragão.
Activities
The main functions of the blood electrolytes, sodium, potassium, chloride and bicarbonate, are in the regulation of nerves, muscles and acid-base balance. There are actions in managing blood pressure and blood pH, “reforming” damaged tissue, energy production, cramp prevention, muscle contraction, and hydration.
