5 tips for getting the right pool liner

When thinking about coatings for building a swimming pool at home, it is essential to be aware of some important aspects that generate many doubts for those who do not know the subject thoroughly: specific models, maintenance, cost, indication of use and properties are some of the factors to consider taken into consideration that, together with the decoration and beauty, define the result of the very usable recreation area.

For Gisely Oliveira, owner of Staccato, a shop specializing in coatings, “choosing a good coating for your pool and outdoor area guarantees the durability of your work, as well as facilitating maintenance and creating a perfect finish”.

Marine scene: in addition to porcelain stoneware for the internal part (in the 20 x 20 cm and 10 x 20 cm formats), the Atlantis Collection, by Portinari, innovates by proposing the mini edge, a solution for the bevel (or chamfer). Each 1.3 x 20 cm piece costs BRL 9.90.

And, to choose the right cladding for this specific area, architect Juliana Sica recommends starting from the basics and focusing mainly on five important aspects:

1. Water absorption

Choose appropriate low porosity liners for the bottom of the pool and the inside wall that will not retain water.

2. Safe outdoor area

Make sure the coating around the pool is non-slip to bring safety and prevent accidents, especially for children. It is possible both to treat the chosen coating and to use coatings already treated with this technology.

3. Color

-

Today everything is possible, even black pools. However, when choosing a dark colour, it is necessary to use LEDs to illuminate the bottom, as well as the outline of the pool, to avoid accidents.

4. Formats

Project by the Mais Alma Arquitetura studio.

Smaller pads and liners are better suited to more rounded, organic pool shapes. Straighter, large-format wall tiles, on the other hand, are better suited to straight lines. Ready-made vinyl pools can be a good option for the cost, but in this case, pay attention to the surrounding outdoor area.

5. Maintenance

The more porous the siding and grout, the more work is required to keep everything clean. Choose more waterproof models and grout specially prepared for swimming pools.
