How can diet influence the diagnosis of diabetes?

Foods with a high glycemic index, according to endocrinologist Elaine Dias, are dangerous

Can a person who has several diabetic relatives develop diabetes from a high-calorie diet?

A person who has a genetic tendency to have diabetesby itself can actually develop the disease in adult life. If you are an obese patient, the chance is much higher. Now if you are a physically active patient, on a high calorie diet, at the expense of protein, the chance is less.

However, the line is blurred. It is important to gain muscle mass as they increase glucose uptake and do not need insulin to absorb it. Bodybuilding is a way to protect yourself from getting diabetes in the future. Just be careful not to overdo the diet and start to have visceral fat, which is that of the abdominal area.

Bet on whole grain carbohydrates, low glycemic index fruits, such as strawberries and avocados, and foods high in fiber, including proteins and fats. Avoid foods such as bread, pasta, rice and sweets.

The glycemic index is the ability to generate a large amount of carbohydrates within the intestines and this carbohydrate falls into the bloodstream, turning into an increase in blood sugar and can cause blood sugar and insulin spikes. This can cause bloating, cause rational hypoglycemia, increase glucose and increase the possibility of developing diabetes in the future.

My guide is to stay active, with physical activity at least three times a week, avoid cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, have a quality diet and get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. It’s also important to cut down on trans fats, ultra-processed foods, and know how to manage stress.

Be aware of symptoms such as excessive thirst, excessive urination, weight loss despite good nutrition, increased belly, tingling sensations in the legs and hands, and vision changes. They indicate that the glucose is too high and the possibility that the person is diabetic is great.
