If you go down to the forest (one hundred acres) today, you will definitely get a big surprise. And now, thanks to the twisted mind of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey From writer-director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the big surprise is to see childhood characters Pooh and Piglet go on a murderous, bloody rampage. Ah, the joys of the public domain! And reportedly by DAY, Frake-Waterfield does not intend to stop there. Yes friends, welcome to the world of Dark Pooh.
Before blood and honeyOut worldwide on Feb. 15 and following the low-budget blockbuster Gorefest in Mexico, its director has talked plans for an entire cinematic universe of X-Rated adaptations of childhood classics. Last year, Frake-Waterfield, who runs the prolific horror banner Jagged Edge Productions with producer Scott Jeffrey, has already revealed two upcoming projects that would surely be a perfect fit. The first, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, would be a dark reimagining of JM Barrie’s iconic Tinkerbell children’s book on drugs. The second one, Bambi: Judgment, revamps the already rather dark story of nature’s perpetual struggle with man’s monstrosity, rephrasing it as a revenge saga with Bambi as a “ruthless killing machine.” Bloody April rains dripping, anyone?
With blood and honey Expected to hit 1,500 screens in the United States and set to handle the cult circuit in international theaters, Frake-Waterfield is already looking further. “The idea is we’re going to try to imagine they’re all in the same world, so we can have crossovers,” she said. DAY. “People have been texting saying they really want to see Bambi vs. Pooh.” And it’s not just familiar Disney properties the writer-director is eyeing. “There are many, many, many other ideas that aren’t Disney-related, many old fairy tales and urban legends, concepts that are synonymous with your childhood, and those are the ones I want to incorporate into a twisted alternate reality.” Oh brother!
