The study also reveals that the lack of manpower in technology will be a challenge for organizations
The expansion of new AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies, the adherence to decentralized ecosystems and architectures, and experiments with the metaverse are some of the trends that Brazilian companies must follow in the two years to make their operations more agile. On the other hand, the shortage of manpower is a challenge that these organizations will face for the digital transformation of their businesses.
It’s what it shows Tech trends 2023an annual study by Deloitte, a professional services organization, offering insights, insights, and inspirations for the digital journey.
“A growing number of organizations, across all industries, are looking to accelerate their digital transformation efforts to make their operations more agile and efficient, as well as to respond to fluctuations that have a large impact on customer routines and expectations” , said Ronaldo Fragoso, leader of business alliances and the CIO program at Deloitte.
“The report presents the strategies and technologies that could drive new ideas to advance the business-first approach to IT, minimize risk, maximize investment value, and work to build trust in business ecosystems.”
The 6 technological forces
The fourteenth report identifies the six technological macro forces that together provide a framework for the continued evolution towards three strategies: simplicity, intelligence and abundance. These trends reveal new technologies and approaches to opportunities in areas that value interaction, information, information, business, cyber, trust and basic modernization.
“Each trend offers opportunities to test new approaches and learn and transform both technology and business models. Transformation must be business- and mission-driven, fueled not only by established technologies, but also by emerging technologies, with the goal of creating and shaping new markets. Tech Trends 2023 can help organizations cultivate what we have now as we move towards what comes next, building something meaningful, sustainable and conducive for tomorrow,” adds Rodrigo Moreira de Oliveira, Technology Strategy & Transformation partner at Deloitte.
Discover the six trends and their impact on Brazilian companies:
- • Paving the way for new AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies.
Although AI tools are growing exponentially, few organizations still realize the great advantage that algorithms can bring. AI’s greatest tool is trust, and organizations are slowly learning to trust new, personalized technologies.
Artificial Intelligence is already present in over 40% of organizations worldwide. In a recent survey by Tortoise Media, which analyzed 140 indicators and 62 countries, and considered pillars such as implementation, innovation and investment, Brazil was ranked 39th. The country leads the way in Latin America, but there is still a long way to go in countries that use technology extensively, such as the US, India and the UK. An indicator that shows progress, still tentative, is the availability of professionals specialized in the subject. In this ranking, Brazil is in 31st place.
With the bill for the legal framework for Artificial Intelligence underway, the country is starting to chart an important path for principles and guidelines that will provide the necessary transparency and credibility for the universalization of the technology.
- • Beyond the cloud: how to control the chaos of the multiverse
To circumvent the complexity of the multicloud universe, some organizations are starting to automate processes. Cloud services provide access to unique tools and techniques to reduce the complexity of this type of operation.
Brazil is one of the world leaders in the use of multicloud. The latest Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Index survey points out that 54% of respondents use two or more clouds, compared with 36% globally. Adopting these systems also brought some challenges, such as training professionals, as well as the complexity of managing the cloud itself.
One of the approaches that have been adopted is the concept of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), which incorporates aspects of software engineering to infrastructure, safety and operation issues. Complementing this control, organizations are also adopting hyperconverged infrastructure platforms, or HCIs, that specialize in bringing a layer of abstraction to management.
- • We trust ourselves: ecosystems and decentralized architectures
Powered blockchains are not only appreciated, but they build digital trust. Considering the complexity of ecosystem management, cybersecurity has increasingly become a priority in organizations.
Web3 brings the concept of decentralization and new ownership models, communities and, of course, business opportunities. Using technologies such as blockchain, NFT and the metaverse, some Brazilian startups are already entering this market which, according to Gartner, is expected to move R$14 trillion worldwide by 2030. The focus of these startups and organizations is the democratization of the Web3 , the promotion and expansion of the culture and use of NFTs, and the experimentation, dissemination and marketing in the world of games, which has proved to be an excellent gateway to the topic. Just as information security is still a concern globally, even with blockchain, there are other topics around data privacy and intellectual property that are still up for debate.
- • Connect and expand: The modernization of reality is making great strides
Rather than replacing mainframes, organizations are looking to improve them by connecting and extending modern technologies.
Facing difficulties integrating with legacy platforms, limited agility in developing new solutions, and difficulties finding or retaining mainframe maintenance talent, many organizations are still migrating or planning to migrate their workloads to the cloud in Brazil . However, as Deloitte’s global report points out, we can see a new movement to integrate these platforms and give the necessary agility or extension to their functionalities, without retiring them.
This is due, in part, to fears of disruption to business with migration as well as technical challenges and talent, new approaches using APIs and layers of integration incorporating AI, and new technologies are emerging to connect to mainframes and create this new level of flexible services. This pendulum between public cloud and mainframe is likely to point to another point of equilibrium in the country in the coming years.
- • Flexibility, the best skill: reinventing the workforce
In recent years, companies have engaged in new technological tools.
It is no longer news that there is a large deficit of technology professionals in the world and, in Brazil, it is no different. A study by Brasscom shows that this deficit could reach almost 800,000 professionals by 2025. The digital transformation, accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, has highlighted this serious problem.
To avoid disruption to their business plans, organizations have already realized the importance of training and qualifying technology professionals, looking not only for professionals with technology training, but also for professionals from other careers. The flexibility of skills, i.e. reskilling (professional requalification) and upskilling (constant professional updating), become fundamental to complete the academic offer in the country.
- • Internet immersion for companies
For many years the Internet has been known as a medium to be accessed through rectangular screens. Today, technology experts recognize that the Internet cannot continue to reduce its complexity, as users use interfaces known as the metaverse.
In Brazil and around the world, the metaverse is a growing topic. A survey carried out by Toluna in 2022 showed that over 80% of Brazilians have not yet had any contact with the metaverse, but 33% would like to have this experience for virtual purchases, games or shows. The moderate growth of the domestic market already shows some experiences.
While some organizations are using technology to promote or strategically position their brands, without targeting new sources of revenue generation, others are already moving in that direction and launching platforms to extend their physical businesses and generate additional revenue.
For example, recently, a trade show created a world where its audience could not only network, meet, but also do business through brokers and manufacturers. A real estate agency in the south of the country has launched a development in the Metaverse to complement its sales. That is, it is a tool that is still being tested and discovered.
