While they aren’t always among the highest-grossing movies, zombie movies have their captive audiences and have a captive place on streaming services, even for launching exclusive productions. Army of the Dead: Las Vegas Invasion (2021)
No stranger to the zombie genre, director Zack Snyder (‘Man of Steel’) made his debut Dawn of the dead (2004). At first glance it may seem like a return to basics, but Army of the Dead: Invasion of Las Vegas bet on more uncompromising fun. It’s a heist movie, but with the undead. The protagonist is ex-military Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), who forms a group with a mission to steal $200 million from an abandoned Las Vegas casino before the venue is bombed. And although the title in Portuguese is one of the more generic, zombie invasion it is full of freshness. As a train heads from Seoul to Busan, the passengers are faced with an infection spreading inside the carriages, with countless undead. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
With the forgiveness of the fans of Justice League, Zack Snyder’s Best Picture is just his debut work. It is a remake of the homonymous film directed by George Romero, but with some changes, especially in the agility of the infected. Out comes the slow zombies of the classics and in comes the fast and agile undead. There are criticisms of the consumer society, as the story takes place with survivors seeking refuge in a shopping center. While it doesn’t have the subtleties of the original work, it’s a good update, with a modern aesthetic and more action content.
Melanie: Last Hope (2016)
While many works usually mostly deal with the initial moment of the zombie outbreak, Melanie: the last hope shows a later phase, with humanity already accustomed to the disease. Scientists continue to search for a cure and, for this reason, some infected are captured for study purposes. One of these guinea pigs, Melanie (Sennia Nanua), may hold the key to eradicating the disease. After all, she and other infected children appear to be less affected and show the ability to think and feel, unlike most infected people.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
It seems like an unlikely mix to bring together the Jane Austen classic and the undead universe, but the combination made for an entertaining story. Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse (2004)
Fidelity when adapting a story to another medium isn’t all that matters. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016)
In addition to its longevity, the great credit of the franchise resident Evil in theaters is the fact that the six films don’t seem to take themselves seriously. Since the screenplay is not the strong point of the series, what remains are the action sequences and mindless moments worthy of B-movies. Zombieland (2009)

That doesn’t mean, however, that it’s a bad movie. Everything that worked before is there: fast pace, tuned cast and good jokes, plus zombies with different characterizations.
