The Mataripe refinery begins production and sale of marine diesel

The Mataripe refinery, in Bahia, has started the production and sale of marine diesel (ODM), the director of the unit, Acelen, informed in a statement on Monday.

The forecast, according to the company headed by Mubadala Capital, is to produce 15 million liters of ODM per month.

The product is intended for small to medium sized vessels, such as marine support, supply fishing or pleasure craft, larger vessels, tugs and passenger transport, as well as large vessels, for use in booster engines.

Marine diesel joins the portfolio of more than 30 items produced in the Bahia unit, he said.

Acelen, of the Mubadala Capital group, completed the acquisition of the Petrobras refinery in Bahia in late 2021. Since then, the company had launched three more products, including specialty propane and specialty butane.

The company specified that the increase in the product portfolio is the result of a broad program of relaunch and optimization of the refinery, seeking greater efficiency and a better use of the operating units, as well as an infrastructural and logistic reorganization of the plant.
