The Wilds on Prime Video: 3 Good Reasons to Catch Survival Series

Filled with flashbacks and interviews filmed after their survival, the 10 episodes also introduce us to the lives of teenage girls, the context in which they grew up, and the common denominator that connects them: everyone has suffered significant trauma.

At the end of the first episode, we learn that nothing in this catastrophe is accidental: a mysterious organization monitors the survivors’ minor actions with cameras and influences events. Leah, Martha, Fatin, Dot, Tony, Shelby and the whole gang are actually weird social experiments on guinea pigs …

A big bet on the creation of the series, the choice of the actors of the quasi-novice actors is convincing. We immediately noticed Fatina’s excellent translator, Sophia Ali, whom we have since seen in Uncharted. Erana James, who plays Tony, is also one of The Wilds’ revelations, as are Mia Hill, Shannon Berry and Jenna Claus as Shelby, Dot and Martha. It is a safe bet that we will see these actors on screen very soon!

If the casting is so successful, it is primarily because the characters are difficult to embody and have constantly evolving links. Thus, we can find the passion between Catholic Shelby and Tony, brought up in Puritan traditions, that is much more open to the issue, the tormented relationship between Fatina and Leah, who knew each other before the accident, or the relationship between the twin sisters. Nora and Rachel.

Focused on the adventures of a group of teenage girls, The Wilds offers a lot more depth than we can imagine. The context of survival, the tension associated with supervising young women and their relationships, allows breaking down barriers between individuals. This allows the series to cleverly address topics that are sometimes still very taboo, such as eating disorders, homosexuality or religion …

And the sequel promises to continue in this direction as the first season ends on a rock that bothers fans:
