Currently starring in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, in which she plays Hope Van Dyne, Evangeline Lilly has returned to the superhero roles she turned down before joining the Marvel Universe. In the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast (via EW), he admitted to rejecting the X-Men movie:
He said, ‘The X-Men are asking me to contact you because they know you’re not talking to anyone. They know we’ve worked together and they want to know if you’d be interested in the X-Men cause. And I answered: No, I’m not interested in that (…)”.
Was it Days of Future Past? Apocalypse? Still, Lily felt guilty about her comments: “I felt stupid because I was talking to the X-Men! The X-Men! And I was like, ‘No, I don’t care’. (…) It was really gross!”
But that’s not the only big production she’s turned down, as Evangeline Lilly also turned down Joss Whedon when the Buffy creator offered her the role of Wonder Woman in 2005. But this time the actor had no ulterior motives:
“Nothing attracted me, and there was nothing about our meeting that excited me or made me think, ‘I have to do this. ) If I’m not impressed, you’ll know.”
A rare actor
Evangeline Lilly made her name as Kate on the series created by JJ Abrams, one of the heroes of Lost. He has always been very careful with his choices, averaging just one film a year since the show’s termination in 2010.

After Real Steel (2011), we were able to find him in the skin of the elf Tauriel in two Hobbit films, then joined the MCU with Ant-Man (2015). Aside from the Netflix horror comedy Little Evil, he’s only been seen in Marvel movies, from the Ant-Man sequel to Avengers: Endgame.
After the pandemic, it seems that the actor has a new desire to play, because we can see him in three projects in less than a year: the animated film Legend of Destruction, the thriller Crisis and the thriller South of Heaven.
