Grey’s Anatomy season 6 episodes 23 and 24 aired on ABC on May 20, 2010. A major double episode that has marked fans of the series forever. With the death of George O’Malley (TR Knight) in the Season 5 finale, the doctors at Gray Sloan Memorial had to deal with new drama that changed the cards.
After the death of his wife, Gary Clark (Michael O’Neill) decides to take revenge on those who he believes are responsible for her death and goes to the hospital with a gun. Enraged, he quickly starts shooting blindly, endangering the lives of several doctors at the hospital.
After hours of wandering, she finally manages to find Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and shoots him under the bemused eyes of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who prompts Christina (Sandra Oh) to save her husband’s surgery.
Just two episodes into Season 6, the writers explained to viewers that no doctor was truly safe after George’s sudden death.
With the snap of their fingers, the writers could decide the life or death of Derek, Meredith, Cristina, Weber, and everyone else. A radical change of tone that announced the color of the following seasons.
And more than 12 years after that double episode aired, it remains one of the landmarks in the world of soap operas. Test your knowledge of the landmark episode.
