HBO has released a new teaser for House of Dragons, a prequel to the Game of Thrones series, but this is not the only project the channel has decided to launch for the international success of its fantastic series.
In 2019, HBO gave the green light to a project called long night (Long Night) and in which Naomi Watts, Toby Rugby, Naomi Ecky, John Sim were united under the direction of WJ Westeros director SJ Clarkson (Legacy, Scandal Anatomy). If this pilot means anything to you, it’s because they were filmed but never released!

Naomi Watts will not be in the Game of Thrones prequel
Worse, it would cost HBO dearly, which a priori would never do anything. Former CEO of WarnerMedia Entertainment, Bob Greenblatt was responsible for creating HBO Max, a streaming platform for Warner products. He was released in August 2020 after restructuring the firm.
In Ignatius Tinderbox: HBO’s relentless pursuit of new frontiers By journalist James Andrew Miller, Greenblatt reveals:
Spent over $ 30 million on Game of Thrones pilot filming while I was there.
The series’s $ 30 million is a colossal sum that HBO has already paid in the past for its other series, Vinyl, which was canceled one season later. Greenblatt continues:
When I saw the editing of this episode a few months after its arrival, I said, “It does not work and I do not think it will live up to the promise of the original series.” He did not deny it, which calmed me down.
That said, $ 30 million went to the trash, leaving HBO with a pretty heavy slate to swallow. This means that if the channel’s hopes and expectations are high around the Dragon House, a new prequel to the original series.
The action takes place 300 years before the events of Game Of Thrones and explores the origins of the Targaryen House, which belonged to Khales and the Queen of Dragons, played by Emilia Clarke. Will this be a new series and will it satisfy the frustrated with the 8th season of Game of Thrones? Answer on August 21 on HBO (and OCS in France)!
