It’s the story of a bear who was found dead from an overdose after receiving a package of cocaine that a drug trafficker had dropped from his plane, which was too heavy during his parachute jump. But this is not the pitch for Quentin Dupierre’s next film (who will dedicate his next opus to the painter Dalí).
Inspired by a true story that took place in Kentucky in 1985, Crazy Bear (or Cocaine Bear VO) marks the return of Elizabeth Banks behind the camera, three years after the failed reboot of Charlie’s Angels. However, if there is no cameo from him, he should not appear on the screen in this film, which is expected to hit our theaters on March 15, 2023, and which will be one of the last from Ray Liotta, who died last May.

The actor will be well surrounded, as the cast also includes Keri Russell, Oshie Jackson Jr., Christopher Hivju (Game of Thrones), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) or Alden Ehrenreich, who finds Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Here the producers, two friends, actually hired him to work on Solo, a Star Wars spin-off, which they began producing before he was fired and replaced by Ron Howard.
Judging by the trailer, seriousness would definitely be out of order, it seems like a cross between a survivalist and a stoner movie, where cocaine replaces cannabis. Wigs and hairpieces will feature in this computer-generated bear, drugged up to make it both bloodthirsty and unpredictable.
Perhaps like the feature film itself, which could be one of the funniest surprises of the 2023 film year.
