Dragon House: Season 2 will end a long time ago

House of the Dragon season 2 isn’t here yet… even though we’ve known for a while now that the Game of Thrones prequel won’t be returning this year, and for good reason, as it hasn’t been filmed yet. Not updated yet, comments HBO channel director confirms we’ll have to wait more than a year before the sequel.

“My philosophy is that a good script is our number one priority. I’m not interested in producing one or two seasons a year, what I want is to come up with stories that create excitement in the US.” He explained and added:

Remember, to see House of the Dragon achieve the success of Game of Thrones, we created several episodes, filmed a pilot, and wrote a lot of scripts before House of Dragon arrived. So it takes a lot of effort to do it again. You have to develop something, an experiment. You never know what will work.

It’s clear that quality is being prioritized over quantity, suggesting that the lessons of the failed Game of Thrones finale have been retained by HBO.

During this interview, Casey Bloys also mentions the high probability that Dragon House Season 2 will air in the summer of 2024, exactly two years after the first season premiered in August 2022.
