Balthazar on TF1: Tomer Sisley answers the big question left unanswered since the finale!

Warning, this article contains spoilers for the final episode of Balthazar, which airs Thursday night on TF1. If you don’t want to understand anything, don’t read!

That’s the question every Balthazar fan will be asking after the finale, which aired last night on TF1: How did the plucky pathologist hero, played by Tomer Sisley, die during the ellipsis that separates the last two episodes of the series?

At the end of the suspenseful final investigation, Raphael Balthazar manages to foil his brother’s Machiavellian plan and Camille (Constance Labbe), who Alexander buried alive and deprived of oxygen.

Viewers were then treated to a happy ending in which we discovered that Camille was finally reunited with her son and that Balthazar was going to raise his daughter Alice and give his romance with Olivia (Caterina Murino) a real chance. ).

But it closed on a rather surprising scene, as the writers chose to move us twenty years later and introduce a grown-up version of Alice, played by actress Liz Lomme, when she is about to arrive. The scene of the first crime, in the company of his father, whose footsteps he followed.

This very beautiful sequence, which seems to serve as an opening to a potential spin-off centered on Alice, however, contains a major twist.

During the discussion between the young woman and the police inspector, we learn that Balthazar is not physically present at the scene of the crime and that the young pathologist simply inherited his father’s gift. To whom he speaks as if he were dead.

How Balthazar died in the twenty years between the end of Season 5 and this epilogue is left up to the viewer’s imagination. But Tomer Sisley clearly has a point on the matter.

“Balthazar is dead to me, just for risking a little more once more”– the actor told us in an interview. “With excess, as it always has been, at some point we end up paying the price”.

A vision of things that Clotilda Gemini, creator and producer of the series, fully shares: “For us, he died as he lived. He died doing extreme sports, having fun. He knew what risks he was taking and he died happy. He even became a so-called responsible father, we don’t even know a husband. And if he made peace with himself, it does not mean that he stopped myself.
