The veteran actress finds it “too complicated.”
Helen Mirren has opened up about his involvement in ‘Shazam! The fury of the gods’.
The DC tape will be the sequel to the successful 2019 film starring Zachary Levi, the actor who defended all the changes made by James Gunn in DC. In it, Mirren assumes the role of Hespera, one of the daughters of Atlas along with Anthea (Rachel Zegler) and Kalypso, played by Lucy Liu, the other great villain of ‘Shazam 2’.
Mirren spoke about the film on ‘The Graham Norton Show’.
“Don’t ask me about the plot, it’s too complicated”, joke. “We are angry goddesses wearing unbelievably heavy costumes.”
“It was very hot and very uncomfortable, and in fact Lucy Liu said at the end of the first day of shooting: ‘They’re trying to kill us’oh really”.
miren revealed that he wanted to accept the role because he “loved the first Shazam”, describing her as “sweet and fun”. And no wonder, because the film directed by David F. Sandberg has become one of the best superhero movies in recent years.
“I’m not a big fan of superheroes, but I loved the idea and I signed up for the second one. It’s great,” he continued.
When asked about the action scenes, and far from becoming one of those movies that almost killed its protagonists on set, he replied: “I did some of my own stuntsbut I broke my finger. I was incredibly brave and didn’t say anything or complain.”
The star also spoke about the recent 2023 BAFTA Awards ceremony, in which he paid a moving tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II with Princes William and Kate in attendance.
“It was a great night, but I was just in and out,” he said, when asked if he enjoyed the ceremony. “I had to get up really early the next morning so I did my thing and then I was back in my pajamas and back in bed at nine!” she concluded.
