Fuel prices rise even before taxes are returned, the research points out

The most expensive average gasoline reaches R$ 6.10; the national average price is R $ 5.40

The most recent Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) showed that, at the end of February, the price of Gas Comes from ethanol has remained high – and should continue to rise from March onwards, when will federal fuel taxes be collected.

The liter of petrol closed the period with the national average price of BRL 5.40with Increase of 1.42%. compared to January. The country’s most expensive average for fuel was recorded in Roraima, at R$ 6.10, and the cheapest, in Paraíba, at R$ 5.02.

Ethanol was marketed to BRL 4.44 the national average, with 1.16% increase, compared to the close of the previous month. The most expensive average for fuel was recorded in the service stations of Pará, at R$ 5.18, and the cheapest in Mato Grosso, at R$ 3.73, one of the few states to present ethanol with a lower savings margin and beneficial to procurement.

The price difference between the cheapest and most expensive average price for gasoline is 21%and for ethanol the 39%according to Edenred Brasil (supplemented by Ticket Log).

“The scenario is high for both and it is worth remembering that the return of federal tax collection on both fuels, starting in March, could reflect a further increase in the average price sold at pumps in the coming months,” Douglas Pina points out. Director General of Mobility at Edenred Brasil.

No region experienced a decrease in the price of gasoline, and only the Southeast, Midwest and South experienced decreases in the price of ethanol, of 2.09%, 1.71% and 1.15%, respectively.

As in early February, the North Region remains in the lead with the highest prices for both fuels and also with the highest increases compared to January. Gasoline in the north sold at R$5.67, up 2.88%; and ethanol closed at R$4.76, up 5.26%. Reflecting the reductions, the South Region ended the period with the lowest average price in the country for gasoline (R$5.19) and the Midwest for ethanol (R$3.96).

The most significant increase in gasoline in the country occurred in Amazonas, where it sold at R$5.63 and increased by 11.13%. As a result, ethanol remains the cheapest option for Amazonian drivers. Meanwhile, the Federal District recorded the largest drop for fuel, 2.44%, which went from R$ 5.20 to R$ 5.07.

Ethanol with the most significant increase (3.68%) was recorded in Sergipe, where fuel rose from R$4.27 to R$4.43. Unlike the beginning of February, the greatest reduction for the liter of ethanol at the end of February was identified in the stations of Rio de Janeiro, of 3.78%, which closed at R$ 4.41.

“With the exception of Amazonas and Mato Grosso, the other states and the Federal District had gasoline as the most advantageous fuel to supply. However, because it is produced from sugar cane or corn, ethanol is considered more ecologically viable, capable of significantly reducing the emissions of gases responsible for climate change”, explains Pina.

The IPTL is a fuel price index calculated on the basis of refueling at the 21,000 accredited Ticket Log service stations. According to the company, there are 1 million vehicles managed by the brand, with an average of eight transactions per second.
