“That decision crushed me. I tried.”
‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega has spoken about her decision to turn down ‘You’ season 4, admitting she was “devastated”.
The actress gave life to Ellie Alves in the Netflix series. The showrunner of the drama, Sera Gamble, recently commented that he had tried to bring her back for the fourth round – which was impossible due to the incompatibility of calendars between ‘Wednesday’ and ‘You’.
Talking with Entertainment Tonight Regarding not having participated in the new episodes, Ortega commented: “I’m devastated. It’s easily one of the best sets I’ve ever been on.”
“It was very hard. I miss Ellie. I’ve been wanting to go back to that character for a long time, but I was in Romania shooting ‘Wednesday’,” he kept saying.
“I couldn’t come and go, with the pandemic involved. Also, when you commit to a project like that… There was no way it would work.”
After this, he added: “That decision crushed me. I tried.”
Gamble had already shared with indiewire some information about the 4th season of ‘You’. “We wanted to bring Ellie back, but we were told, ‘Oh, Jenna’s doing a series.’“
He then went on to suggest the possibility of a future comeback, adding, “It’s been a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie, if her schedule allows her to visit us again.“
In another order of things, at the beginning of this month, Ortega spoke about his exhausting schedule filming ‘Miércoles’: “You had to get to the set two hours before, do 12/14 hour shifts, go home to do a Zoom of the class you had that day…”
“Other times, I would arrive at my apartment and my cello teacher would be waiting for me. I was in constant movementeither And, if we didn’t record six days a week, they gave me classes on the weekend.”
About the famous cello scene that can be seen in the series, the actress commented: “I didn’t sleep at all. I was pulling my hair out… I was calling my dad on FaceTime crying hysterically….“
The first 3 seasons and Part I of season 4 of ‘You’ are available on Netflix. ‘You’ Season 4 Part 2 will premiere on March 9.
