26-year-old Mary Mouser was one of the revelations of “Cobra Kai” with her role as Samantha, the eldest daughter of Daniel LaRusso (of “Karate Kid” fame) who followed in her father’s footsteps by learning karate from Mr. Miyagi.
In the Netflix series, Sam starts out as a popular girl, but thanks to her values, she turns away from bad influences and falls in love with Miguel Diaz (Xolo MaridueƱa), although her rivalry with Tory Nichols means she has to learn karate.
Sam eventually becomes one of the best students in both her dad’s and Johnny Lawrence’s dojos, balancing both styles and overcoming her fears.
But although many knew the actress for her role in Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’, Mary Mouser has been in Hollywood for many years and even in a very emotional role she looked very different than she does now.
Mary Mouser, Samantha LaRusso in ‘Cobra Kai’, Appeared in ‘CSI’ and Few Remember Him
Mary Mouser, a native of Arkansas and born in May 1996, made her acting debut in 2004 at the age of 8, in the detective and investigative series “Without a Trace”, playing the role of Amy Rose.
Although a year later she had several small roles such as in ‘Son of the Mask’, ‘Monk’ and the animated film ‘Tarzan 2: The Legend Begins’, it was her appearance in ‘CSI’ that put her on the radar. and showed his acting skills.
In the series ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ she played the role of young Cassie McBride in the episode ‘Gum Drops’ of the sixth season in 2005, where her family is murdered.
In the episode, little Cassie McBride is the only survivor of the attack on her family, and Nick Stokes and the rest of the CSI team discover pieces of chewing gum evidence that allow them to solve the case.
Mary Mouser then returned to the CBS saga with a recurring role on the series “NCIS” (“NCIS: Naval Criminology” in Spanish) as Kelly, daughter of the character Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
And it’s amazing what the actress looked like at the time, since at the age of 9 and lying in a hospital bed with bandages and gauze around her neck, she looks completely transformed into what we are used to now.
Mouser was cast for her career despite her young age, though those CBS series cast their actors for other reasons, such as a man who appeared on “CSI: Las Vegas” after faking his death for 321 days in TikTok.
The portrayal of little Mary Mouser was very emotional, although some of the closest ‘CSI’ fans criticized the story at the time because they thought it was absurd that Cassie could be found alive two days after her throat was slit.
Mary Mouser will return for the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai” on Netflix, although there is currently no official release date, it is expected to arrive in late 2023 or early 2024.
