John Cena, Simu Liu and Awkwafina star in the action comedy Grand Death Lotto

It feels like kind of a weird twist The purgePrime Video’s new action comedy grand lottery of death you will see a shangchi match for Simu Liu and Awkwafina, who play alongside John Cena.

Paul Feig is directing the new film from a screenplay by Rob Yescombe. Here is his official synopsis: “In the very near future, the Grand Lottery has established itself in California, an economically struggling region. The only problem? Kill the winner before sunset and you can legally claim your prize.

“Newly transplanted to Los Angeles, Katie (Awkwafina) accidentally stumbles upon the winning ticket and must team up with amateur jackpot pimp Noel (Cena) to make it to the sunset to claim his multi-million dollar prize, all while working with rival pimp by Noel. Louis Lewis (Liu), who also wants to take him to the sunset to reclaim his rich protection post.

“I love action comedies and extreme physical comedies, and this film has both in abundance, as well as a lot of heart and mirth,” says Feig. “This lottery will make all of us winners.”

Filming will begin next week.
