Along with the pilot, Paul Dussett offers a distinctive military thriller: A Race Against Time Theater and Hostage-taking in the middle of screens. Come back to 3 good reasons to watch this OCS Signature movie.
Exciting playground
Daniel is a drone operator based in Mali. Following in the footsteps of a terrorist cell, he and his detachment cover up a ground intervention team. Meanwhile, Daniel’s wife, Anna, and their daughter Marie are being held hostage in a hotel room. At the risk of killing them, Daniel must give up blackmailing the attackers and sabotaging the mission, even if it means confronting his hierarchy and his subordinates.
The deadlock in which the hero finds himself will lead to 74 highly tense minutes where every second counts. With the development of the film the stress increases, Daniel is under pressure, he is forced to make a choice, the consequences of which can be dramatic, trapped between his family and his integrity.
Sunken concept
The main advantage of Pilote is its concept of staging: everything happens in real time, the flow of images comes directly from the characters’ computers, webcams, smartphones or tablets. Thus, the spectator is set up as a witness to oppressive merriment, torn between hierarchical order and the personal crisis experienced by Daniel.
According to director Paul Douset, this strong concept and this choice of artistic direction give the film several advantages. First: Realism in exchanges, combat procedures, and communication between characters. Then, this idea allows for a total immersion with the impression of a real-time experienced camera, immersing the viewer in a constant rise in tension, to the end.
High flying actor
The pilot is backed by an excellent actor, apparently starting with Daniel, played by Hugo Becker. What we find in the service of France, Baron Noir, or more recently, on a recent trip, is as credible as a soldier leading his detachment as a victim of a hellish conspiracy. As the intensity increases, so does his game, without losing accuracy.

Next to him, Eye Haïdara (Le Sens de la Fête, En Thérapie…) plays Carine, Daniel’s partner. Their duo are complemented by Gregory Fitus, nicknamed Fernandez, an experienced soldier who helps Daniel in the field to save his daughter and his wife. The latter is perfectly interpreted by Cahina Carina, which we have already seen in the Braqueurs or La Loi de Valérie.
