“Specific Protocol”: Caesar 2023, why the ceremony was stopped?

Among the surprising and unexpected moments of the Cesar ceremony, we especially note the irritation of an environmental activist in the middle of a sketch led by Ahmed Silas and Leah Drucker.

The arrival of this woman on the stage was followed by an immediate interruption of the broadcast of the ceremony. This raised many questions and criticism on social networks. Why did Canal+ choose to interrupt the live broadcast for a few minutes?

To reduce misinterpretations and contradictions, Caesar Academy sent an email to its members to explain itself. He delivered this letter French movie :

The Cesare Academy, in full agreement with Canal+, always wanted the Cesare ceremony to happen live, without any interruption. This was the case last Friday as well as in previous ceremonies“.

Security reasons that come with live streaming

and add: that “It comes with a specific protocol: interrupting the live performance when someone outside of the ceremony bursts onto the stage. This protocol, created by mutual agreement between Canal+ and the Academy Office, addresses the safety reasons inherent in life“.

Indeed, when an outsider – who is not invited to the room or whose speaking position was not negotiated in advance with the organizers – bursts onto the stage bypassing the security devices, no one can know a priori the intention of this person: will there be a conversation? Or physical aggression of one or more participants? And neither is the cause that this person is trying to defend“, we can read in the continuation of this letter.

Environmental activist on stage at Caesars last Friday

It turns out that on Friday night it was an environmental activist, a cause to which we are particularly sensitive, but spoilage being by definition unintended, it could have been any other vastly more reprehensible cause.

Thus, the termination of the antenna is a response on the part of the organizers to this inability to quickly and confidently decipher the intentions of the person who invaded. That’s why antenna cutting protocol was in effect on Friday evening“.

Leah Drucker and Ahmed Sila offered to talk to the young woman, which she did not want

All the people who were in the room can testify to what happened: Leah Drucker and Ahmed Sila offered to talk to the young woman, which she did not want, then two security men came on stage to take her backstage.

The young woman was then laid on the ground (following the usual procedure for such an event) and, without particular cruelty, was taken by the arms and legs to be dragged off the stage.“.

The ceremony (…) is logically the target of many people who want to protect this or that cause. It could be someone with non-pacifist goals, as opposed to an environmental activist on Friday night.

and to conclude:Caesar’s ceremony, because it is alive and brings together many artistic and political personalities, is logically the target of many people who want to defend this or that cause.

It could be someone with non-pacifist goals, as opposed to an environmental activist on Friday night. For the same reasons, and while the country is still under surveillance, it is the Academy’s duty to do everything possible to protect the safety of all guests.“.

Earlier in the week, Leah Drucker posted a text on Instagram to explain their reaction to Ahmed Silla’s recent activist upset over the recent renovation of the association.

Our laugh is an awkward laugh, not a mocking laughhe assured on Instagram. The laugh of someone who knows he’s in deep shit, but who doesn’t want to broadcast his suffering on television and in front of this room“.
