Meet the Marvel actor who was going to play Joel in ‘The Last of Us’

Jeffrey Piercewho voices Tommy in the video games ‘The Last of Us’ and that also has a supporting role in the television adaptation of what is already one of the best series on HBO Max in 2023, has revealed that Joel was going to be played by another actor.

The role is currently played by Pedro Pascal, the star of ‘The Mandalorian,’ but it could have been very different.

Pierce has acknowledged that the star of the future Marvel movie centered on the character of ‘Blade’, Mahershala Ali, it was going to be Joel in the HBO Max series.

In an interview with ‘The Direct’Pierce also discussed the character of Tommy and how he had “no illusions” about playing him on screen.

“I think they initially talked to Mahershala Ali about playing Joel, which is an obvious sign that he wasn’t going to play Tommy… and when Pedro Pascal was chosen, I knew that this was not going to happen, because I am older than Pedro Pascal. So I had no illusions about it,” he said.

In the series, Tommy is played by Gabriel Luna, but Pierce made a few appearances in episodes four and five of ‘The Last Of Us’ as Perry, an ally of the brutal Kathleen, played by ‘Yellowjackets’ star Melanie Lynsky. .

Of his role in the series, Pierce said: “At first, I said to co-director Neil Druckmann something like, ‘look, I’m going to come over and carry a spear and stay in the corner if there’s anything I can do to help count. the story of the game, you know, count me in.'”
