Director Louis Leterrier talks about the penultimate dramatic installment of the franchise, Fast X. It’s boom time.

Sometime in 2001, Louis Leterrier and Jason Statham had some downtime to open butcher shops galore in The Courier in Paris. The director and star of him then went to a cinema near the Champs-Élysées to see a novelty – Rob Cohen’s film. The fast and the furious. “We saw it and we looked at each other like, ‘This changes everything,'” laughs Leterrier.
His instincts weren’t wrong. At the time, The fast and the furious was considered a surprisingly enjoyable sleeper hit, a free remake of Breaking point with fast cars and beefy stars, but over the years it has become a series, which has become a franchise, which has become a billion-dollar giant. Now, it appears that monumental journey is coming to a close, with a two-part finale kicking off with this summer’s issue. fast X. And Leterrier (as director) and Statham (as the returning Deckard Shaw) are on the road with Vin Diesel and company. Only that it’s the Fast & Furious delivery that could actually change everything. “There’s a war brewing,” jokes the director. “It’s coming to an end, and it’s a race to the finish line. There will be huge losses.”
