Jamie Lee Curtis didn’t want to go to the Oscars party with other candidates: he revealed the reason

Among the 2023 Oscar nominees who have changed the most since starting their careers is Jamie Lee Curtis, with his start in “Halloween” and now in the running for a statuette for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

The 64-year-old actress has had major roles in Hollywood, including her role with the cast of ‘Freaky Friday’ 20 years ago, ‘True Lies’, ‘Knives Out’ and various ‘Halloween’ horror films.

Although Jamie Lee Curtis is nominated for the first time in her career for a supporting actress at the Oscars this year, she refused to attend an official Academy event.

Jamie Lee Curtis didn’t want to go to the Oscar party for some reason

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Independent Spirit Awards on March 4, 2023, the actress revealed that there will be a party for the nominees, but said she declined the invitation.

“I’ll tell you a secret now. There’s a nominee dinner, a private Oscar nominee dinner on Thursday (March 9) night starting at 7:30 p.m. and I refused to go.”

According to the “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star, she won’t be going to the party because it will be so late, she even said that by the time dinner is served, it will be past her bedtime.

“Now, you’ll be able to say, ‘Jamie, you’re nominated for an Oscar, you’re going to be in a room with Oscar nominees and you’ve turned it down.’ Because? Why does mom go to bed early? Because it (is) 7:30 p.m. and it will be 9 before we even eat, and you know what? Nothing good happens to me after 9pm Nothing, nothing!’

In this way, Jamie Lee Curtis has accepted that she prefers to stay in the comfort of her home and go to bed early, even if it means missing out on life with Hollywood’s best actors.

And his reason, apart from making a lot of sense to many early sleepers, is real and has nothing to do with him having a problem with his fellow actors or the film industry.

Even in February, Jamie Lee Curtis attended a luncheon for Oscar nominees 2023. The nomination, curiously, comes 60 years after her mother, Janet Leigh, in the same category.

“I mean, I knew it, I knew it. I never thought this would happen. Because my parents and their fame and stardom were so legendary, I never felt like I was anywhere near their level. It’s a beautiful bond. A link of genealogy.’

The other supporting actress nominees are Angela Bassett for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Hong Chau for “The Whale,” Kerry Condon for “The Banshees of Inisherin” and Stephanie Hsu also for the “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
