Apple TV+ has released the hilarious trailer for the second season of “Schmigadoon!”, a series about a couple who unintentionally ends up in the magical world of classic musicals, where everyone is always happy.
Season 2 picks up after Keegan-Michael Key (“The Prom Party”) and Cecily Strong (“Saturday Night Live”) elope, only to find that normal life has lost its fun. Deciding to return to “Schmigadoon!”, they try to find the lost land again. Only that, instead of in the universe of classic musicals, they end up in “Schmicago!”, a place of 70s musicals, where happy endings are much rarer.
“Schmigadoon!” is the first series of Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, writer-creators of “Despicable Me” (2010) and “Pets: The Secret Life of Pets” (2016), and in the cast there is also Ariana DeBose (Oscar winner for ” Amor, Sublime Amor”), Dove Cameron (“Descendants”), Jaime Camil (“Jane the Virgin”), Kristin Chenoweth (“Pushing Daisies”), Alan Cumming (“Instinct”), Jane Krakowski (“Unbreakable Kimmy”) Schmidt” ), Ann Harada (“Smash”), Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”), Aaron Tveit (“Secrets of Heaven”/Graceland), Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) and Patrick Page (” In a Neighborhood of New York”).
The production is by Lorne Michaels, the creator of the humorous feature film “Saturday Night Live”, and the premiere of the new episodes will take place on April 5th.
