Colin Farrell is back as The Penguin and he’s unrecognizable: see his set photos

Colin Farrell, who is one of the nominees for Best Actor at the 2023 Oscars, was one of the surprises in “The Batman” (2022) with Robert Pattinson and Paul Dano, thanks to his transformation as Oswald Cobblepot/ Penguin.

The Irish actor is reportedly set to return for the sequel, but his portrayal of the ambitious Gotham City criminal landed him the lead in an HBO Max limited series for his character.

  • Colin Farrell also stars in movie ‘The Bodyguard 2’, which you can watch on ViX+, ViX’s premium streaming service.

The series will tell how Cobblepot takes advantage of the power vacuum in the criminal world left by the death of kingpin Carmine Falcone and the existing chaos in the city due to the flood caused by the Riddler.

Production will be released ahead of the sequel, and filming has already begun in New York, where Colin Farrell was once again seen using make-up and prosthetics to play the villainous Batman.

Colin Farrell is back as The Penguin and he’s unrecognizable

Although Danny DeVito’s Colin Farrell performance as The Penguin didn’t quite top his own, the Oscar-nominated actor for “The Banshees of Inisherin” has a new chance to show more of his version of the villain.

Also known as Oz in director Matt Reeves’ film, the series starring Colin Farrell will be a drama that will show his rise in the Gotham mafia and his transformation as the big bad The Penguin.

In photos that have emerged from the recording set, the 46-year-old actor is seen fully transformed into Oz and appears to be enjoying the fruits of his criminal ambition.

In the images, Penguin is wearing a white shirt with a bra, a purple jacket, a brown leather coat, and is also seen driving a purple luxury car with gold trim.

Just as in the film Colin Farrell disappeared into Oswald Cobblepot’s make-up, so in the set photos he looks unrecognizable again.

The make-up team of “The Batman” was so good that during the recordings Colin Farrell went as a penguin in a coffee shop and no one recognized him. Now they repeated their feat and transformed the actor again.

Regarding his transformation and the makeup and prosthetics process, Farrell told Variety on January 5, 2023 that he liked what the production did and what he saw in “The Batman” was just a small taste.

“There was all this amazing work done by (prosthetic artist Mike Moreno) and Mike Fontaine, his team… I thought it was ‘the tip of the iceberg,’ pardon the pun, that we did with the six or seven scenes we had in the movie . I was very grateful for those scenes, but I wanted more.”

The series, currently titled just “The Penguin”, will run for 8 episodes and is executive produced by Matt Reeves, Colin Farrell, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc and Craig Zobel.

Cristin Milioti (“How I Met Your Mother”) will play Sofia Falcone and Clancy Brown (“Starship Troopers”) will play Capo Salvatore Maroni. There is currently no word on whether Robert Pattinson will appear as Batman.
