The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to dismiss the complaint filed by the PGR against PT President, MP Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), and the former Minister of Planning and Communications Paulo Bernardo in the investigation of Operation Lava Jato.
The complaint accused Gleisi and Paulo Bernardo of participating in a corruption scheme and of having received bribes of R $ 1 million from Odebrecht for money laundering at Petrobras. Again according to the complaint, Gleisi would be one of the most advantaged by the regime.
Now, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo, has stated that a “re-evaluation of the previously exposed understanding has been carried out, on the basis of an in-depth analysis of the defense arguments presented by the defendant” and that the PGR has understood that evidence minimum has been presented for starting a process.
Lindôra stressed that other PT supporters were acquitted in the first instance with the knowledge that there are “no signs of stability and permanence” of the alleged criminal organization.
“Analyzing the reasons for the decision adopted by the judge of first instance, it being understood that the complaint states that the defendants Gleisi Hoffmann and Paulo Bernardo received illicit sums from contractors as bribes deriving from contracts stipulated with public bodies of the direct and indirect Public Administration , in the denunciation of the crime of conspiracy there is no independent evidence to support the just cause”, wrote the prosecutor at the demonstration.
