Redmi 12C comes to the global market with a focus on low cost

Nearly 2 months after its launch in China, the Redmi 12C — a rebranded version of the Redmi 11A — debuts in the global market by focusing on low cost

Almost 2 months after the debut in ChinaTHE Xiaomi presented to the global market this Thursday (9) the Redmi 12C, the brand’s new basic mobile phone. Also the rebranded version of Redmi 11A recently relaunched as POCO C55the device focuses on low cost by carrying a processor MediaTek still limited to 4G connectivity, low resolution LCD screen and generous battery but more limited charging.

The Redmi 12C is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, the same chip as models like the Moto G23 and the Redmi Note 8 (2021), accompanied by 3 GB, 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of storage, with the possibility of expansion via Micro SD cards up to 1 TB of capacity. It’s worth mentioning that there were some changes in this department compared to the Chinese model, which didn’t have the 3GB/32GB variant, and was only compatible with Micro SD cards up to 512GB.

The 6.71-inch screen is simple and incorporates an IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution of 1650 x 720 pixels, 60Hz refresh rate and brightness up to 500 nits. There’s a teardrop-shaped notch to house the 5MP selfie camera, while a mono sound system, with a speaker at the base of the device, rounds out the basic media consumption experience.

The set of rear lenses also offers the bare minimum, carrying a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary lens for depth calculation. The battery on the other hand is generous, with a capacity of 5,000 mAh, and should offer very long autonomy considering the specifications of the phone, although it is limited by the 10W of charging.
