Could Neve Campbell return as Sidney Prescott after Scream 6?

Scream 6 represents the first film in the franchise not to feature an appearance by Neve Campbellinterpreter of Sidney Prescott (protagonist of the first four films). Now the producer William Sherak commented on whether a possible return of the actress is possible.

Previously, Campbell explained reasons for not agreeing to participate in Scream 6. During an interview with People in 2022, the actress revealed how she received an “unfair” payment proposal, which reflects the sexism of hollywood. “Honestly, I don’t believe that if a man had made five blockbuster films in 25 years he would be offered that number, the number offered to a man,” he argued.

In the announcement that he would not return as Sidney Prescott in the sixth film of the franchise, the artist spoke about inequality in the industry: “As a woman in this business, it is very important to be valued and to fight for it.” She also explained how walking around the set knowing the devaluation of her work would not be comfortable: “I would feel the injustice, or lack of justice, around it.”

Neve Campbell could return as Sidney Prescott after Scream 6?

Now, during conversation with deadline, William Sherak talked about Scream 6. Of course, he was asked about the infamous departure of Neve Campbell. “Look, she’s an amazing person. We had a lot of fun with her on [Pânico 5]so we look at that and say, she’s a spectacular part of this franchise,” he said. “We want her to make the right decisions for her, and she will always be welcome and a part of this franchise.”

It’s a door, it’s open, and at any time you can walk through the door, whoever you are, as a legacy character. We’re continuing to scale up how many legacy characters we have, and they’re all amazing people that we can bring back at any time.

“This story is incredible in the way it was lived, and everyone in it is spectacular. And as we look to the future, if we are allowed to continue making them, anyone and everyone who has been in them before can be a part of them again. Our legacy cast is part of our family and we look at them that way, and we just want to keep having fun making them, so at any time, that could be part of the franchise.”
