Deputy targeted by three crime reports for transphobia after saying on the rostrum of the Chamber that there are ‘men who feel like women’
Federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) defended on Friday 10 the speech he gave against feminism and trans women on the rostrum of the Chamber. On International Women’s Day, the MP wore a blonde wig to mock “men who feel like women,” which led to a petition calling for her impeachment. The parliamentarian said that, if he loses his mandate, “I will raise 10,000 Nikolas throughout Brazil.” “My life doesn’t end with impeachment,” he said.
The deputy also said that he doesn’t mind being arrested or even losing his life. In another post, he returned to attacking trans women. “What I find strange is that anyone can feel like a woman except me,” he wrote on Twitter.

Nikolas became the target of three criminal notices in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for transphobia. Experts listened to by Stadium claim that the deputy violated the law 7.716/1989, which deals with crimes deriving from racial or color prejudice. Two years ago, the same legislation applied to cases of homophobia and transphobia. If convicted, he could lose his sentence. A petition with over 270,000 signatures calls for the deputy’s impeachment.
In addition to the law 7.716/1989, Nikolas may also have violated the Code of Ethics of the Chamber of Deputies, in order to respect the Constitution, the laws and the internal norms of the Chamber and the National Congress, and the exercise of the mandate with dignity and respect for public affairs and the will of the people.
Born in Minas Gerais, Nikolas Ferreira became the country’s most voted federal deputy in the last elections. Affiliated with the PL, the young man who received nearly 1.5 million votes is a supporter of Bolsonaro and close to the former president’s children.
