Brazil technical coordinator highlights quality of Brazilian coaches and says choice will be based on ‘expertise’

“It’s not just knowing football, it’s knowing the culture of the country you coach. I think in Brazil we have competent coaches to exercise, more than one, much more than one. The Brazil team coordinator, who began his coaching career outside of Brazil, recalled Luiz Felipe Scolari’s move in charge of Portugal, when he guided the Portuguese to second place at the European Championship and the 2006 World Cup semi-finals.
“I can guarantee that we have Brazilian coaches qualified to take over. And there are also two Portuguese who were here, one is and one was. We can think about it, just like we had Felipão in 2004 in Portugal,” he concluded.
Ricardo Gomes was chosen for the position of coach coordinator of the Brazil national team earlier this month. Of Tite’s former commission, physiologist Guilherme Passos, Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, and analysts Bruno Baquete and Thomas Koerich still remain. Brazil’s first match after the World Cup will be on March 25, in Morocco, against the local team, which finished the World Cup in Qatar in fourth place.
