However, when he found out that the series based on “The Addams Family” will be made by director Tim Burton, he reconsidered the proposal because he considers him one of the greats of cinema, in addition to having a good relationship with him.
Even with Burton joining the project and making his television debut, Ortega apparently played hard to get it a few more times before finally accepting the role of Merlina.

The changes Jenna Ortega made to Netflix’s Merlina
Once Jenna Ortega accepted, along with the rest of the ‘Wednesday’ cast, she had to follow strict rules to record the series and also became very involved with the character, to the extent of making changes to the script.
When Jenna Ortega arrived on “Wednesday,” she criticized the original script for the Netflix series, as she felt there was a lot of dialogue that didn’t fit her character’s vibe.
She even got so deep into Merlina’s character that she became protective of her and was even the one who created and referenced the famous Merlina dance that exploded in popularity on TikTok.
The series has been a huge hit for Netflix, being the platform’s most popular show for six straight weeks and surpassing “Stranger Things” in hours watched in its premiere weeks.
With such popularity it has been confirmed that ‘Wednesday’ will get a second season, even its creator has already revealed what the next installments will be about in the life of Jenna Ortega’s Merlina.
