On March 15th, James Gunn officially announced his involvement as director for the next Man of Steel: Superman Legacy (in theaters July 9th, 2025).
Yes, I’m directing Superman: Legacy, which will be released on July 11, 2025. My brother Matt told me when he saw the release date, he started crying. I asked why. He said, “Dude, it’s daddy’s birthday.” I could not understand. pic.twitter.com/ohQNV8nI4g

After completing the script, the filmmaker will soon move on to the next stages of production, including casting! Who will replace Henry Cavill in Superman tights? We’ve selected 5 candidates who have the stature and potential to take on the role of the Last Son of Krypton.
David Korenswet
With a clear resemblance to Henry Cavill from his 93 meter height, David Korenswet would be the perfect actor to portray the young Superman in the vision that James Gunn wants to offer us.
The 29-year-old American has appeared in episodes of House of Cards, The Politician and We Own This City, among others. He also starred in the Netflix romantic comedy Une Vie ou l’autre.

Wolfgang Novogratz
Wolfgang Novogratz, born in 1997, is also in line to portray the Last Son of Krypton.

This 91 meter tall brunette has made a name for herself in several Netflix comedies such as The Last Summer, Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, If You Know or Feel the Beat.

Jacob Elord
25-year-old Jacob Elord already has a relatively rich career. The young Australian made an impression by portraying the character of Nate Jacobs in the TV series Euphoria. He also plays Noah Flynn, the protagonist of the teenage trilogy The Kissing Booth.

Additionally, Elorde will slip into King Elvis Presley’s costume in Priscilla, a biopic about the life of the famous singer’s wife. At 1 meter 96, the artist has the build to become the future Man of Steel.

Glenn Powell
Despite being a bit older than the rest of the cast (at 34), Glenn Powell is a perfect candidate to don the glasses (and steel pantyhose) of Clark Kent.

The American comedian saw his popularity rise after the hallucinatory success of Top Gun Maverick. Glenn plays the daring pilot Hangman alongside Tom Cruise.

Leo Suter
Born in 1993, British Leo Suter exploded into the public eye thanks to his performance in the TV series Vikings Valhalla.

He attributes his height to the Viking chieftain and future king of Norway, Harald Sigurdsson. He will be a great embodiment of the Last Son of Krypton in the Superman legacy.
