One of the most mythical titles of the Shonen genre comes to Disney + in full, 366 episodes plus ‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’, the adaptation of the last arc of the manga.
When you think of animation, you immediately think of Disney+. After all, we are talking about the service that has all the Disney classics and all the Pixar movies in its catalog. In addition to the animated production of Disney Channel, it is undeniable that the streaming service has several of the best animated films in history. Perhaps for this reason, it had fallen a bit behind the competition in terms of anime, and it is that the Disney classics of the new generations have been several decades without anything to do with Mickey Mouse, and speaking Japanese. For this reason, the fact that one of the great icons of the genre arrived at Disney + after not being available on any platform, doing so in full and just in time for its long-awaited finale is news.
‘Bleach’ is one of the most legendary shonen anime, perhaps only surpassed by the holy trinity of ‘Dragon Ball’, ‘Naruto’ and ‘One Piece’. From 2004 to 2012, bleach adapted Kubo Tite’s eponymous manga through 16 seasons and 366 chapters (163 are non-canonical filler of the manga). He ended up not seeing the end of the manga, leaving millions of fans without the long-awaited outcome. But, ten years later, in the fall of 2022, ‘Bleach’ returned with ‘Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’, an adaptation of the final arc of the manga that will put an end to the story.
Disney has not only put the entire series in its catalogue, but it has also added this first half of “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War”, giving its subscribers a comfortable ticket both to recover the epic story that marked a generation of anime fans like to see the outcome first-row and up-to-date. We said “will put” because for now we only have 13 chapters, a first half that we will see continued from July 2023. In total there will be 54 chapters divided into four batches that will end ‘Bleach’.
‘Bleach’ tells the long story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager with supernatural abilities capable of seeing and interacting with ghosts. One day he meets a strange girl named Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami (no, we’re not in Death Note) who tells Ichigo about her job of sending the good souls to the Soul Society, and eliminating the bad souls ( also called hollows). When a hollow hurts Ichigo’s family, Rukia transfers her powers to him, turning him into a shinigami as well.
