Ben Affleck slams ‘Justice League’ and reveals why he won’t direct DC film

It was 2016 when fans first saw Ben Affleck’s Batman in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

Although the actor had a promising future within the franchise (including the possibility of doing a superhero movie), it ended abruptly with “Justice League.”

Although the performer could still make a cameo in “Aquaman” and other DC tapes, he spoke about the project that made him step away from the world of superheroes.

Ben Affleck harshly criticized the movie “Justice League”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on March 16, the actor said that the movies that excite him are not the ones that “work” commercially.

In this sense, he criticized that films like “Justice League” “became repetitive and less interesting to me”.

When delving into the 2017 tape, he expressed:

“You could give a whole tutorial on all the reasons why it’s not done that way.”

The negative experiences he listed were:

“From production to bad decisions and horrible personal tragedy and ending with the most monstrous taste in my mouth.”

It is worth remembering that the original director of the film was Zack Snyder, but he had to withdraw from the project after the death of his daughter.

His replacement was Joss Whedon. About her work with him, Jennifer Lopez’s husband said:

“There was this idea that someone was going to come and say, ‘I’m going to save the movie and we’re going to shoot them in 60 days and I’m going to write a new script with what they already have, I’ve got the secret.’ but that was not the secret. It was difficult”.

For his part, Ben Affleck also had a tough time, as he said:

“I started drinking too much. I was in a London hotel, it was either that (drink) or I jumped out of the window and I just thought, ‘This is not the life I want, my kids aren’t here, I’m miserable’.”

After this experience, the ‘Going All The Way’ actor (a movie you can watch for free on ViX), changed his perspective on superhero movies:

“I’m not patronizing it or discounting it, but I got to a point where I didn’t find it creatively satisfying.”

Without assigning blame to anyone, Ben Affleck ended by saying that “Justice League” was “the worst experience I’ve had in an industry that’s full of experiences… It broke my heart.”

Ben Affleck Talks About His Movie in ‘The Flash’

The truth is, despite his bad experience on set, the 50-year-old actor will play the Dark Knight again with a cameo in “The Flash.”

Fans can start raising their expectations for the tape after he described “the five minutes I’m out there” as “pretty good.”

“A lot is just the tone. You have to figure out what your version of the person is, who is the type that fits what you can do.”

Ben Affleck says he won’t direct a DC movie

While Ben Affleck can measure the impact Batman has had on his career, he would no longer be willing to go behind the scenes to make a DC movie.

“I was going to direct a Batman movie and (‘Justice League’) made me quit (the project). “I’m out, I never want to do any of this, I’m not him.”

Asked what he would say if DC asked him to make a movie right now, Ben Affleck replied:

“I wouldn’t direct something for James Gunn’s DC, definitely not. I have nothing against James Gunn, he’s a good guy, probably doing a good job. I just wouldn’t go and direct something like they do. I’m not interested in that.”
