It might not have gotten a well-deserved Oscar for All everywhere at once, but Stephanie Hsu is still a star wherever she goes. She is part of the new comedy set. joy ridethe first film of asian rich boobs co-writer Adele Lim.
Written by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao, joy ride is a story of identity and self-discovery centered around four unlikely friends who embark on a unique international adventure. When Audrey’s (Ashley Park) business trip to Asia goes awry, she enlists the help of Lolo (Sherry Cola), her cheeky childhood best friend who also turns out to be a disaster; Kat (Hsu), her college friend turned Chinese soap opera star; and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), Lolo’s eccentric cousin.
As the Red Band trailer suggests, it’s full of crude humor and loads of drug/sex references (perhaps not too shocking since it’s produced by Seth Rogen’s Point Gray company), but it honestly looks like a lot of fun.
joy ride hits UK cinemas on June 23, ahead of its July 7 release in the US.
