The announcement of Cobra Kai ending at the end of next season, which was announced a few weeks ago, could mean that the Karate Kid series has been canceled by Netflix. But in reality, the platform isn’t responsible for the show’s suspension, as series co-creator John Hurwitz confirmed on Twitter.
During an exchange with his fans, the American screenwriter revealed that the decision to end Cobra Kai was not made by Netflix, but by its creators and showrunners. Which isn’t to say the franchise won’t continue in one form or another on the platform:
Netflix didn’t tell us this was the final season. We told him it was the last season. We’ve always wanted to finish Cobra Kai on our own terms, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to do so. But that doesn’t mean we’re done with the Miyagiverse. We love this world. #Cobrakai https://t.co/sAb0GarANP

Keep in mind that the creators of Cobra Kai are not involved in the Karate Kid movie project announced by Sony Pictures, so it is not known whether it will be a reboot of the original 1984 film, a spin-off, or a sequel to the 2010 remake. Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan wear.
Cobra Kai spin-offs may also see the light of day on Netflix, such as John Creecy’s Youth prequel series, a project that’s already rumored, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Filming for the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai, which is currently being written, will begin soon for a 2024 broadcast.
