YouTube reported Friday (17) that it had imposed punishments on 500 videos posted by 80 male channels that used the platform to spread misogynistic content on networks. The decision came two weeks later to the facts publish report content-based, explaining the vocabulary created by these groups as a strategy to escape moderation.
According to the platform, which belongs to Google, the punishments applied include:
- Restricting access to minors under 18;
- Demonization and removal of content that violates the rules;
- Sanctions on responsible channels, such as not being able to post new videos.
In Note, YouTube did not specify what punishments were applied to each of the channels. Looking for the platform, this Monday (20th), to the facts found that all remain in the air.
However, at least 12 of the 35 pages monetized before the report was released no longer show ads or membership programs. Eight other pages have been removed or have had some of their content private.
