This is the new film by Cillian Murphy, the star of ‘Peaky Blinders’

Cillian Murphy, star of ‘Peaky Blinders’, is in for a good few years after joining the cast of a new film.

The actor, who will also star in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ this summer, has just joined the film adaptation of Claire Keegan’s novel, ‘Small Things Like These’.

The project has received the approval of Artists Equity, from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, and will also star Ciarán Hinds and Emily Watson. The story is set in Christmas 1985 and follows Bill Furlong (Murphy), who discovers the secrets that his town’s convent keeps.

Tim Mielants, who worked with Murphy on ‘Peaky Blinders’, is directing, while Enda Walsh has written the script. The photography team has already started preparations in Ireland.

Murphy has spoken about the original material and the film, and has stated that he is “proud” to join the project.

“I am honored and delighted to have the opportunity to bring Claire Keegan’s magnificent novel to the screen.“Murphy declared.

“We’ve assembled a terrific team of creatives to make this film, and we’ve found some amazing partners in AE, a studio run by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, actors and filmmakers I’ve admired for many years.“

Murphy is best known for his role as Tommy Shelby on ‘Peaky Blinders’, which ended last year after six seasons (and is preparing a film adaptation). However, the actor of ‘Peaky Blinders’, Daryl McCormack, commented that he has not heard much about the project.

“It’s something I haven’t heard of. I have been asked many times, but I have not heard anything about it yetMcCormack admitted.
