The future of Star Wars on the big screen seems like a game of chairs. The latest franchise news since the year began has been a hodgepodge of ins and outs of directors and creative teams. And the dance continues with a new addition, that of ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight.

Making a little summary until yesterday, the minute and result of the saga consisted of: Patty Jenkins (‘Wonder Woman’), Kevin Feige (Marvel) and the duo of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (‘Game of Thrones’) abandoned their respective projects, while Taika Waititi (‘Thor: Love and Thunder’) and rian johnson (‘Glass Onion’) seem to continue with their projects… At least for now.

But in the last hours the surprise has jumped in the Lucasfilm studios with another change of trading cards. Yesterday it was announced that the film by Damon Lindelof (‘Lost’) and Justin Britt-Gibson would not go ahead, and today we have met the person who will be in charge of creating a new galactic installment: Steven Knight, the creator of the ‘Peaky Blinders’ series. ‘. It remains to be seen if the director associated with Lindelof’s project, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (‘Ms. Marvel’), will also be responsible for putting this new script on screen.

This new Star Wars movie should mark the return of the franchise to the cinema after the premiere of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ in 2019. Production is scheduled to begin next February and an official announcement is expected to arrive at the Star Wars Celebration in London next month.
