Shazam! 2: Director recalls perrengues of participating in Wonder Woman

Interpreted by Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman appears little in the plot of Shazam! Gods Fury

first film of A.D in 2023, Shazam! Gods Fury arrived in Brazilian theaters on March 16, 2023 and featured an appearance by one of the main characters of the company: Wonder WomanInterpreted by Gal Gadot. However, the heroine’s participation had some perrengues, such as the director David F. Sandberg.

According to the filmmaker, filming with the main cast and Gadot happened from a distance. That is, when the characters of Shazam! two interacted with Wonder Womanthe production team needed to use a body double in place of the actress, who was unable to attend at the time – but she participated in the filming and was added to the scene using visual effects.

During an interview with collider, David F. Sandberg explained how it reminded him of the participation of Super man in shazam (2019), when the character appeared without showing his face. “I mean, the funny thing was, in the first movie, we would have henry [Cavill] as Super man. So when we were filming that scene, they said, ‘Well, henry won’t make it on this day, so we’re going to shoot with a replacement and then we’ll have to get his coverage later,'” he recalled.

The situation with henry fell apart and we couldn’t do that. So we had to just use the stunt footage, which is why it ends before you see his face.

“So for this one, Wonder Woman it was in the script and I thought, ‘This isn’t really going to happen.’ I mean, it makes sense given the mythology and the Greek gods and everything,” the filmmaker continued. “And then when we were shooting that scene, or most of it, it was the same thing, like, ‘Oh, you’re going to need film with an understudy and then we’re going to put it all together because she’s not going to make it here in Atlanta. We can have the character [de Helen Mirren] really surviving?’ It will be so boring if she shows up. But that was kind of my plan B.

Unlike what happened to Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot managed to film Shazam! Gods Fury and was included at the end of the film, which pleased the director a lot: “But then it really happened and we were able to shoot with it, which made me very happy.”
