The change comes after Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson left the project.
“Star Wars” fans can get ready for another novelty soon. The Lucasfilm franchise has a new writer: Steven Knight, creator of the “Peaky Blinders” series. Knight will be working on a script for Academy Award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who also helmed episodes of “Ms. Wonder”.
This change comes after the departure of Damon Lindelof (“Lost”) and screenwriter Ustin Britt-Gibson from the project. Lindelof began work on the film in July 2022, secretly holding a writers’ session to craft a story before he and Britt-Gibson set about writing the script set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
‘The Rise of Skywalker’ was a turning point for ‘Star Wars’ as it concluded the Skywalker saga that began with the original 1977 film Wars’ to be released December 19, 2025.
Knight is best known for his Oscar-nominated screenplay for ‘Dirty and Beautiful Things’, but he is also best known for series such as ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘See.’
