From the very first movie…
The director of ‘Mission Impossible’, Christopher McQuarrie, has confirmed on Instagram the return of a character from the first film to ‘Mission Impossible 8’.
Following the news of the return of Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny), it has now been revealed that we will also see CIA agent William Donloe (Rolf Saxon).
Fans will remember that iconic scene from 1996 in which Ethan Hunt was suspended from the ceiling. while trying to break into a CIA database.
Donloe supervised the vault and, after the robbery, was transferred to Alaska by the director of the IMF, Kittridge. Filming footage from a snowy location, for the 2024 sequel, suggests we could visit Alaska and consequently Donloe.
In addition to the returning characters, ‘Mission Impossible 8’ will also feature new cast members, such as Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, and Nick Offerman.
The film will be the eighth and final in the action franchise, since its predecessor, ‘Mission Impossible: Judgment of Death. Part I’ will be released this summer.
Talking with Digital Spy in December, the newcomer to the franchise, Hayley Atwell, explained the delay of it, which was shot in September 2020.
“It’s not by chance” he commented. “Mr. Cruise knows exactly what he’s doing. He wants these films to mobilize the public so that they feel totally transported. We won’t stop until she’s ready and she gets it.”
“Tom is a great advocate for the public… this is for the public. This is to delight, excite and move them.”
‘Mission Impossible 8’ is scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2024.
