The ax fell last summer. After nearly 19 years as Meredith Grey, Ellen Pompeo has announced that she will be leaving Grey’s Anatomy in its 19th season. It was in episode 7, which aired on February 23 on ABC, that the actor said goodbye to the medical series.
A goodbye that wasn’t final, as he explained that Meredith would be back in the Season 19 finale. Therefore, on May 18, Ellen Pompeo will visit the Gray Sloan Memorial for the last time, in connection with the holiday. The double-episode that will end this season is marked by a change.
As of now, ABC has yet to reveal the circumstances that will bring Meredith back to Seattle, but judging by the writers, the episode should be rich.
Especially since the American channel has not yet announced the renewal of the 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy. Will it be a double episode in the final series? ABC should end the suspension soon.
Season 19 as a reboot
To make up for Ellen Pompeo’s departure, Grey’s Anatomy writers introduced five new interns to the medical series in the first episode of Season 19.
A new generation of doctors who allow fiction, a sort of reboot, and at the same time focus on the first seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.
Nico Terho plays Lucas, a young doctor desperate to prove himself who is none other than Derek and Amelia’s nephew. Adelaide Kane, who we saw in the Reign series, falls for Jules, who has already slept with Link. Rounding out the roster of new trainees are Midori Francis, Harry Shum Jr., and Alexis Floyd.
Note that Grey’s Anatomy season 18 finale airs on TF1 on Wednesday, April 12. The front page should logically continue with the first episodes of season 19.
